Overall my experience with Mara Gates Safaris was very positive. I assume your approach is to book into another transport/safari company to actually operate the tour so you’re control over this aspect is limited, nevertheless this was very good.

My initial enquiries and booking with Agnes was trouble free. She was very helpful and responded promptly and informatively to my questions. She gave me confidence I was dealing with a professional company which is always a concern when booking from overseas. The initial transfer from the airport car to the safari vehicle was a little messy as we tried to find each other in the streets, however this was not a major problem or concern.
The driver, George, was very good. He drove in a very responsible and safe manner which is a very important consideration especially seeing various accidents on the trip and the state of the roads in some places. Overall he came across as very responsible and professional. He was also friendly and approachable. His knowledge of the wildlife etc was also very good. I would recommend him highly. My only regret was that I didn’t have any change at the end of the tour to tip him which I felt bad about, as he certainly deserved it.

I thought the trip was very good value for money. The accommodation whilst basic but adequate and clean.....The driver I had in Nairobi was also very good. He was again very safe driver and friendly.

Being able to book the Nairobi accommodation, the diner at Carnivore and the transport to and from the airport with Mara Gates was much appreciated and made planning a lot easier.
