This tour is based on accommodation at Wilderness Chain of hotels featuring Samburu Lodge and Keekorok lodge.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi- Samburu Game Reserve

Pick up at 0700hrs and transfer to Wilson airport for your flight departing Nairobi at 0915hrs to arrive Samburu at 1030hrs.

Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to Samburu Lodge. Lunch at Samburu lodge

At 1600hrs, proceed for an afternoon game drive.

Samburu National Reserve is located 325 kms north of Nairobi in the hot and arid northern region of Kenya. The reserve is placed within the ancestral lands of the Samburu, who are close relatives of the Maasai. Despite being so far flung, the reserve harbours a number of species rarely found anywhere else. Among these are Grevy's zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the beisa oryx, all of which are only found north of the equator.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

0600hrs, early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Lunch at Samburu Lodge

1600hrs proceed for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Lodge

Day 3: Samburu – Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Breakfast at the lodge then transfer to airstrip for your flight departing Samburu at 0830hrs to arrive Mara at 1015hrs. Upon arrival in Maasai Mara, you are met at the airstrip and transfer to Keekorok lodge.

Lunch at the lodge.

1600 hrs -An afternoon game drive till dusk.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya's finest wildlife reserve. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight.

Birds, too, are prolific. Including migrants, well over 450 species have been recorded, among them, 57 species of birds of prey. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well-spread rainfall year round. Rain, when it falls almost always chooses the late afternoon or night. Between July and October, when the great wildebeest migration is in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the sensation is unparalleled.

Dinner and overnight at Keekorok lodge

Day 4: Maasai Mara

0600 hrs -Early morning game drive in the Mara. Later, return to the lodge for breakfast. Rest of the morning at leisure. (On this day, you also have an optional balloon ride- at an extra cost with pick up from the lodge at 0500hrs)

1600 hrs -After lunch at the lodge, proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge

Day 5: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

0600hrs, early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge and at around 0930hrs, transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi arriving at 1215hrs.
